Toothache, broken tooth, lost filling, trauma. Call our main line — we’ll fit you in today whenever we can.
If you’re in real pain or have had an injury, call 250 595 5203 as soon as you can. During business hours we’ll triage immediately and hold time for same-day emergencies.
In the meantime — and while we’re getting you in — here’s what to do.
Find the tooth. Pick it up by the crown (the chewing part), not the root. Rinse gently with milk or saline if it’s dirty — don’t scrub. If you can, place it back in the socket and hold it there. If not, store it in milk (or in the cheek of a calm adult). Call us immediately — a tooth that goes back into the socket within the hour has the best chance.
Rinse with warm salt water. Use floss to gently dislodge food between teeth. Take ibuprofen if you’re able to, Tylenol if not — never exceeding what’s recommended on the label. Don’t put aspirin directly on the gum. Call us.
Save any fragment if you can. Rinse with warm water. Cold compress for swelling. If a sharp edge is cutting your tongue, cheeks, or lips and you can’t see us right away (or you’re out of town), use a small nail file or emery board with gentle strokes to smooth the edge so you can function comfortably until the tooth is repaired. Call us — depending on the depth of the break we may be able to repair the same day.
Save the restoration if you find it. Place a desensitizing toothpaste (like Sensodyne) around the tooth or into the void and leave it in place. Pharmacy temporary-filling material can also stabilise things for a day or two. Call us — we’ll usually see you within 24 hours.
