02.03 Crowns & bridges

Rebuilt teeth. Unobtrusive materials.

Custom restorations that rebuild strength and blend with the surrounding teeth — function and form, together.

A crown is a full-coverage restoration that protects a tooth weakened by decay, a large old filling, a crack, or a root canal. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by anchoring a replacement between the two teeth next to the gap.

We use lab-fabricated porcelain, zirconia, and gold. Porcelain and zirconia are colour-matched to your neighbouring teeth — most patients can’t pick out which tooth is the crown after it’s placed, and that’s the goal. And for the right tooth, we still love gold: gentle on opposing teeth, and built to last for decades.

When a crown makes sense

A large existing filling has failed or is about to. A tooth has cracked. A tooth needed a root canal. A tooth is structurally compromised in a way a filling can’t fix.

When a bridge makes sense

You’re missing a tooth, and the teeth on either side of the gap would already benefit from crowns. If the adjacent teeth are healthy, an implant is usually the better long-term choice.

The process

Usually two visits — one to prepare the tooth and take a digital impression, and one to seat the final restoration a couple of weeks later. A temporary protects the tooth in between.
