Dr. Jessica Metcalfe

Dentist, Co-Owner of Bowker Creek Dental

Get to know me!

I have been immersed in the dental field since I was 13 years old, starting as a sterilization tech and progressing through roles as a receptionist, office manager, and dental assistant. I graduated from Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2015 alongside Dr. Keely. Following dental school, I completed a one-year hospital residency program at Mount Sinai in Toronto, specializing in the care of medically compromised and special needs patients. My passion for complex dentistry deepened during my five years at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, where I served as a full-time staff dentist, education director, clinical researcher, and special projects manager.

My passion for education has shaped my career. I have contributed to the Ontario Dental Association’s Education Advisory Committee, the Canadian Dental Association’s Life-Long Learning Task Force, and the Faculty Council at the University of Toronto Dental School. As a clinical instructor at the University of Toronto, I taught future dental professionals and continue to support the profession by writing for the Canadian Dental Association’s national literature magazine and creating educational videos to improve the operations and patient care of dental clinics.

I have also been published in scientific journals, BC Business magazine, and local Victoria publications. In addition, I have shared my expertise as a guest on numerous podcasts and run my own podcast, further amplifying my message on leadership, communication, and workplace strategy.

Initially, I lectured to dental and medical communities about improving patients’ quality of life after cancer therapy. Over time, my focus expanded to helping organizations optimize individual performance, team dynamics, and business operations. To date, I have delivered over 50 presentations on culture, communication, and confidence to a diverse range of audiences.

Beyond the dental clinic, I am an award-winning international speaker and the best-selling author of Speak Kindly, You’re Listening (available on Amazon or even in the waiting room at Bowker Creek). In 2023, I was honored as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 for my transformative insights and strategies on leadership, burnout recovery, and team development.
